Jonathan is a specialist adviser to law firms and in-house legal departments, helping his clients with leadership development, coaching of senior lawyers and business leaders and advising on human capital development, organizational development and change.

A UK qualified Barrister by background, he practised as an advocate in the UK courts for 10 years and spent a year teaching at the University of Chicago, in addition to part time teaching roles at Kings College London, Brasenose College, Oxford and Worcester College, Oxford.

Jonathan qualified additionally as a business psychologist in the early 2000s and has over 15 years specialised experience consulting to a wide range of law firms and in house legal departments both in the UK, US and internationally.

For several years he was a Senior Director at Huron Consulting Group, a leading US consultancy specialising in the legal services sector.  He set up a practice focused on the development of senior lawyer talent, developing that practice and building a team of consultants in the US, UK and Europe.

Jonathan has coached senior lawyers at Fortune 100 and Fortune 250 companies, as well as FTSE 100, FTSE 250 and other multinationals.  He typically coaches at GC/CLO and DGC level.  He has also coached at senior management and partner level, as well as at senior associate level, in a range of leading national and international law firms. He is on the coaching panel of several of the largest law firms in London.

Jonathan is known for his grounded but pragmatic coaching style and in particular for helping his clients to make sustained and sustainable behavioural change, so as to be more impactful, work more effectively with their clients and to be more profitable and productive.  As an ex-lawyer he has immediate credibility with his clients and develops a strong and enduring rapport with them.

Jonathan is often asked to coach teams so that they work together more effectively and to design and facilitate workshops and away days that get to the heart of complex issues around team dynamics and other strategic issues. He is also known as a skillful and experienced facilitator, adept at steering and mediating difficult conversations.

He also has experience helping to resolve complex senior level internal conflict and has helped resolve conflict between, by way of example, Managing Partner and Senior Partner and between Managing Partner and Heads of Department.

Outside of work, Jonathan chairs a small NGO that does development work in Ghana and India and enjoys spending time with his family as well as reading, walking and going to the opera.
